This past Saturday evening I took my 101 Massey and 6000 Ford to the Freistatt,MO pull..They have one of the best pulling facilities in SW Missouri with tons of room for pits and parking...The track is almost 50 ft wide and is 500 ft long..About 10 years ago a Pro-Field IH pulled 505 ft on it at a Spring River Pull..The picture of the track is courtesy of Galen Zook..Even though the wind was out of the north it was a warm muggy evening...Lots of the local pullers weren't there as haying season was going full bore in that area..There will be another classic pull there on Friday Sept 10th and then the Spring River pull will be on Sept 11th..

The 101 Massey ran good and got 1st in the 3500 3MPH class and 2nd in the 4000 3MPH class..Since the Columbus,KS pull (where it didnt run good) the 6000 Ford had gotten new racing plugs, new plug wires, and some fresh fuel..It hit as high as 5600-5700 rpms and never missed a beat until the end when it leaned out..The ground speed was 13.2 MPH and the distance pulled was 444 ft.

The link to the video is below..Galen Zook does a fine job on the videos..

Thanks 1206--Things get pretty warm at 444 ft.--especially if your dry blocked! Twisting that Ford pretty hard!---Tee

444 ft is probably a little farther than it needed to pull on a 91 degree day..The block is hard blocked and the head has water in it..The head temp was 190 when it popped out...Its set up to run on 112 octane and I had a mixture of 50-50 110 and 116 octane....It turned over easy after I restarted it..Its fire ringed and things seemed OK so hopefully I got lucky....Don Thomas had the St Judes UB MM there and he's been fighting detonation...

I guess that we are almost in a drought here...In the past 29 days I've had less than 1 inch of rain...Its 90 or warmer every day and it may be near 100 on Thursday and Friday...Next week will be a little cooler with some chance of rain.

I dont like running antique pulls past 275 ft., in the interest of time especially for 3 and 3.5 mph classes. Were running so many hooks we need to keep things moving.

Stay safe 1206--it is hot and dry in NE Iowa also--The traders must have watched the weather news yesterday-Corn lost 35 cents in a day---Tee

When we dont have lots of tractors they let us faster tractors run..When theres lots of tractors they usually stop most at 200-300 ft....Most of our tracks are only 270-330
ft long....The one at Freistatt is an exception.

At 500 feet and 3 MPH, a full pull would take over two minutes to get to the end of the track. I can see why the pullers would really enjoy that, but do many spectators stick around to watch, or is it mostly pullers and their families for those clases?

Run some 120 Renegade in them things and detonation won't be a problem. It's what it takes to make them Deere's run. I have drums of it on hand if anybody is interested.
