Engine rpm checker

I know there out there, but does anyone have an opinion on one as far as quality .
I need to check actual engine rpms verses what the tractor tach. reads.

Thanks

Weve found that even the cheapest optical techs are more than accurate enough for the engine speeds we are working with.

We always keep one in the rig when were tractor pulling.

I think my phototach is from harbor freight. You can also buy one that clips to number one injection line. You can buy an isspro magnetic pickup and digital tach.

Do a search on Photo tachometer on AMAZON and you have your choice of a dozen brands between $15 and $22. As was said, they are infinently more accurate than a dial type tach. They include enough white reflective tape to put dots on hundreds and hundreds of tractors or engines to confirm rpm. A dot 1/8" x 1/8" is big enough. Might as well buy a photo thermometer too, be surprized how useful they are!
