I know you guys know almost everything. So how big of a battery charger would it run. I know a lot of variables. I have a 7 amp charger, no fan. Pretty sure will run it. But would like to run a 30 amp electronic one with a small fan. Thanks.

Strictly by the calculator amps x volts the generator should run the charger...however...whatever the losses in the complete circuit, it most likely will not. I carry a Honda 2200 Inverter to the pulls which has 1800 running watts and use a cart type NAPA manual charger between hooks. 10 amp setting no problem, 20 amp no problem but the generator is under a noticeable load, 40 amp setting the gage still doesn't go above 20 amps. Same circumstance when the power goes out at home, seems like it takes twice the size of a generator as it should.

The 900 watt generator is a two stroke that runs 50:1 fuel and is a bear to start when it’s cold. I had a different brand from northern tool that looked exactly the same. Leaked fuel everywhere also. Above 40 degrees it started and ran fine.

That 900 watt generator is only rated for 700 watt continuous which is 5.8 A at 120V. A good digital charger will be around 85% efficient and work ok at 30A. An analog charger (with a fan) will likely not work out.

Vic, if you want something cheap and reliable, consider a small gas engine (old push mower engine) and an alternator. Build a suitable 2 wheel cart, some 10-12 gauge wire, clamps, and you're good to go. use a small diameter pulley on the engine. My setup is a 3.5hp horizontal shaft engine (because I already had it). It'll work it hard with a 10-15 amp load on it, but runs the fan, water pump and charges the battery between classes. I have less than $50 in the whole thing.
