sleeve standout question

what do mean by figure out? talking about factory spec's? talking about how to measure? plus what engine is this? a manual provides the spec. it can be done with a dial indicator or feeler gauges.

Putting bigger bore sleeves in a CC Case. Going 4 3/8 bore and it looks like I can still use a stock head gasket as the cylinder bore in the head gaskets are 4 3/8.

They were 3 7/8 originally with the sleeves being super thick at the top. The head gasket gets no where near the cylinder wall on the stock bore. Kind of a strange design seems like to me.

I figured .005 standout. You are saying
your original headgasket, fire ring never
sat on the sleeve. It should. Did you have
seprate fire rings that sat on the sleeve
and the gasket just went to them. Kinda
like a 2 stroke Detroit. You can get a
copper head gasket made. Best is to
machine a groove in top of your sleeves.
Like .035 and put a 14 guage copper
electrical wire in it. Cut wire at 45 deg
angle and solder it together. In Hook
magazine is a ad for crank machine shop.
New Baden Il. He has some sizes. I got
4.750 bore size from him. And he put
groove in sleeves. Think his are aluminum.

do you have this engine apart or just asking questions? something don't seam right by what your saying. post some pictures.
