Boring/ crank question

Putting .125 over pistons in a 38 G. Heard that we could put a
new style G crank in it to get a little more stroke? Have a
crank here so not going to cost me a ton to do. If I?m able to
do that what rods would I have to put in it? Any help would be
great thank you!

Same stroke with either crank. A styled block (shorter) will get you more compression and power though.

Lyn is that with just the stock block with removing 3.000 on the crank? Or if I was to remove stock 38 block and put a new style block to and add 60 rods?

38johndeereG What you are doing is grinding the crank from 3.375 to 3.000. This gives you .375 more stroke. The block will not make any difference is motor size. The later block will give you more compression. You get roughly 5.0:1 compression with aluminum pistons on Unstyled G. Around 5.5:1 with stroking crank to 7.375. Can't remember Styled block length but if .750 shorter will give you little over 9:1 compression. Lynn

Are you going tractor pulling or just looking to have a good runner around the farm?

Also consider a new cam grind and distributor work if using one.

Is it hand start yet?

It?s a hand start. Lookin to build the tractor for the ?farm stock?
just a little bit of motor work without having to stroke it and
adjusting to all the major changes. Don?t want to dump 20k in
it. Just looking for thoughts from everyone

Keep in mind the more compression the harder it will roll over to hand start. I'm thinking the same thing with my 70. It's amazing what one point in compression makes blasting out the exhaust when running.
