301 3,000 rpm antique cam

I would call competition cams in Memphis Tn. We have tried a 350 Chevy towing grind. With good results. Also Vogel enterprises at Effingham Il.

I just sent 2 D282/301 cams out to Vogel to see what can be done with them.

I had Berry Cams out in Lester Prairie, MN grind a C153 cam for an antique puller, runs extremely well for what it is.

Is the 301 combine cam any different grind than the tractor cam? How much advantage is there at this rpm to get a custom grind with engine mods like offset grind crank, flattop pistons, port and polish 301 head. Thanks.

I don't think there is any difference,
between a tractor or combine cam. But I do
know my friends 460 with a 4 in Chevy
piston and a 5 in stroke. With a tube
intake and a big carb is seriously
competitive in the 6 mph 4500. And on
anything but a sticky clay track will pull
4500 8 mph. Technology moves on. New cam
grinds are way better. It's not all fuel
injection on your new pickup.
