GAS VS DIESEL

Hey everyone,
I've been running around the pulling sport for a few years every now and again taking my 430 case 188 with me not having much luck. whats the general consensuses gas or diesel which is generally better for pulling in antique classes? Thanks

Gas or Diesel--Doesn't matter which--Either one pulls good--What matters is a good checkbook---Tee

I have never seen a 430 at a pull. That is a relatively small tractor. you often see small tractors entered in a class where they are just too small for the class. you would not likely be competitive in any class over 4,000 lbs.

I pull a couple of Diesels but probably
not smart. I have pulled a 435 JD. It took
some time and money to make it
competitive. It is the same size as your
430 Case. In the 3500 lb. 4 mph or slower
it is tough. 4000lb. Sometime. 4500 out of
its class. Problem at local fairs they
like to start at 4500. So I have built a
D17 Diesel that weights 4100. To pull 4500
and 5000 lb. Only reason D17 is a Diesel
is because USAP rules state. Tractor has
to have same number of cylinders it came
with and motor, same mfg. As tractor and
bolt in. So a Diesel D17 was a 6 cyl. A
gas 4. Gas is so much cheaper and easier.

For any given cubic inch sized engine, gasoline fuel will always be capable of making more HP than diesel fuel UNLESS you turbocharge the diesel engine.

As previously stated . How you win is to take a medium sized tractor . Bolt in a large engine that has the same bolt patterns . Then strip the weight off the tractor to small size .

How is the d17 running Vic? Going to hit any indoor pulls with it this winter? Harrisburg pa and Eaton ohio are coming up in the next couple of months

D17 is apart right now. It spun the center main bearing. Looks like I might have put the bearing upside down. Or there was crap in the oil galley. Don't know. But that bearing was coming apart little pile of brass under it in pan. Crank and block check in specs. I'm letting a real motor guy decide and put the short block together. Also getting a rebuilt oil pump. And upping oil pressure to near 100 cold. Plus 15x50 syn oil.It did get 4th in 6mph 4500 class at Princeton In. Where lost oil pressure. And warped 2 speed plates in the 8 moh 4500. Wheels stopped then started again. One of these days Ill get it.

It should have plenty of power for 8 mph? Is that just a stock engine with turbo removed or has it been completely worked over?
