Moline Puller

Old Ford Mechanic

Looking for info on an old pulling tractor out of Mayfield Ky. He pulled with us down in Southern Tn. back in the 1980s. Can't recall the owners name. The tractor was either a Moline G900 or maybe a G1000. It was a very strong machine that dominated his hotrod class. I have pics somewhere if I can locate them of some pulls this tractor was in. Anybody remember this tractor or owner?

Was it the Hughes G-1000? It won a NTPA pull at Evansville,Indiana in 1977..

The Hughes G-1000 MM was from Mayfield,KY......Thats the only hot MM I remember from Kentucky...Leonard Beisley from Chapel Hill,Tenn had the Old Yellar G-1000 MM pictured below....Most of the hot MM's in the 1970's-1980's were from Illinois and Indiana...Danny Fillingame from Georgia had a hot G-705 MM..

Thanks. I remember Leonard from Chapel Hill. I will talk to some of the older guys. Maybe they will remember the name.It could have been the Hughes Tractor but, the Goofy name does not look right.

You have any more pictures of Leonard or his tractor? He's a good friend of my family's and he doesn't have many pictures of the tractor. Only one he has has been hanging in a shed for years and is so faded you can barely see it.

Thats probably the only known picture on the internet of Old Yellar....It came from an NTPA Puller magazine..

Was it Dave Stangle's Solid Junk? Watched him pull the sled off the track and almost into the crowd at the Indy Super Pull. RIP Dave---Tee

Some time after 1975 I believe it was Mr Stangle who was at the Purdue University pull. At that time he was called K-Boom Stangle. He was quite popular with the crowd. At intermission there was to be a goat milking contest between K-Boom and one of the Purdue Professors in the Ag program. Much was made about this contest during the pull. When announcer shouted go the professor began to fill his bucket straight away. K-Boom was having trouble to the great amusement of the crowd. It seemed the contest had been rigged - K-Boom had been given a Billy Goat. It was all in great fun.

I did some searching and found several pictures of the Max and Joe Pat Hughes
G-1000 MM from Mayfield,Ky..It probably went thru several other owners after them
and turned in to the Goofy G-1000 MM..

I forgot to add that the turbo air intake and turbo cover looks the
same on the Goofy MM as it does on the 2 pictures I just found...
It became the Goofy MM after Hughes sold it...

FYI, I had breakfast with Bill Carlile, Virgil's boy, Wed. morning. He told me he doesn't think they had any pics of their 1950. gm

Thats a shame that Carliles dont have any pictures of the Oliver 1950..
It seems like lots of families dont have any pictures of their old
pulling tractors...You will probably remember Dale and Rick Dolls
44 Massey puller from Butler....Ricks son is hunting a picture of
the 44 Massey as they have no pictures at all...I was contacted and
couldn't help them any..

Raymond Jackson had scads of old puller pics but somewhere along the line they got wet and ruined. If I'm not mistaken I think there was an obit for Rick some time back.

Too bad about Raymonds pictures....Rick Doll passed in 2012...
Rick pulled a 44 Massey at ElDorado Springs about 12-15 years ago...
