Wanting to know how i can get more horsepower out of my wd45 id like to get up to 70 horsepower with the same block and heads if possible.

A good engine shop can be easily get you there with the submission of a blank check.

Simplest is to stroke it a 1/2", which will push your piston up a 1/4". But not cheap. Google H.A.P.I. in Indiana. Next get your cam reground. BB Chevy exhaust valves for intake valves. Port match your intake. Dowel pin it. Electronic ign plus 40000 volt coil. Get your carburetor modified by Motec. You will need 100 hp. To pull 4mph in mid-west. The good running ones. Are 4 5/8 X 6. There is at least one 500 cu. Lurking out there. Subscribe to the HOOK magazine, ads are helpful.

there is more than one big Allis WC and WD out there.

As I recall, allis tractors had a flat head. Combustion chamber is in the cylinders. Looking for a piston that will go higher in cylinder will increase compression. Longer wrist pin to piston head distance. I have also known of folks that welded a block to piston head . Essentially making a domed piston. In increasing compression will help.

compression alone means nothing,must have better flow,more cubes,more of all components that are invloved,tires,weights,ignition.

Increase in compression ratio alone can mean a whole lot when you are stating at under 7 to 1.

I think that 23% would be noticeable and I think that most people would feel pretty good about a 23% increase from just swapping pistons.

535353M, you misunderstand me. My point is that most people would love a gain of 23 percent and that it is very worthwhile, not nothing as you said it is. I was not intending to say that increasing compression is all that one should do.
