How many of you guys degree in your cam after having it reground ? Any of you just stick them in, line up the dots, and go? A guy told me on my cam I could degree it to check it but should be able to put it in and go, just wondering your all?s thoughts on this.

Makes a big difference how it is degreed. Your cam grinder should be able to tell you where to degree it at. It probably doesn't have a stock regrind so it needs to be matched up to the grind for optimum hp.

I always degree a cam in on any performance engine build and check for piston to valve clearance as well as valve spring bind and guide to valve retainer clearance.

I performed a rescue mission on a 4010 that someone just installed and didn t check, they got lucky, but it cost them 6 intake valves and my labor to make it right. Piston just touched the valve and retainer was just hitting the guide. Could have been really bad.

Who did your cam grind?
