Im think about building a stock Super H,Are these tractors any good in there class. What can be done on the outside of the motor to help with HP,carb, distributer, timing, governor,or even planning the head?

A friend of mine has one with stroke, bore and and cut head when installing new manifold,-- found 8 hp just in carb tune, timing and settings over what he had previous.

After you do what folks suggest, hook it to a dyno and tune it out. Many times you can get several more hp out of one over "guess" or factory settings. Especially if running higher than stock rpm.

James, I have a nice 1954 Super H if you haven't found one. The tractor is all original and in very good condition. Give me a call (507) 276-3285. Thanks, Jason

What classes are you trying to compete in? Assuming transfer sled, if you are actually competing in "stock" classes you'll be heavily outgunned by M's in 4500.

You would be much better off with a 1939/40 H in 3500lbs class. An H can dominate 3500. You can get that SH down to 3500 but its heavier to start with versus the older 39/40 H's. Only real advantage with a SH is slightly faster 2nd,3rd and 4th gears.
But in 4500 class an M with pressed steel will walk all over you.

And in enhanced classes you'll be embarrassed by M's in 4500 as its not hard to get 350 cubes with an M so they'll always be a gear ahead of you.

If your going to pull stone boat then thats much different.
