I Recently picked up an Oliver 77 after hunting somthing to build a pulling tractor out of to run 5500 and 6500 classes to start out may go lighter or heavier but those two are what i want to build for my question is, is it worth building for those classes or am my wasting my time with a 77? The engine in my 77 is currently stuck so it will mostlikely need a rebuild or a swap not really worried about winning all the time but don't wanna take a knife to a gun fight so to speak Its mostly M's a few Minnie's and 88s around here id be competing with Thanks in advance.

Agree with Showcrop. You can use same
engine in 77 as 88, so power no
problem. Just a lot of work handling
all the extra weight.

Cheapest is to find a 310. But a 320 would
be better. Find them in gen-sets. Think
waukesha calls them 195's. 77 is fine.
880's pulling some are 77's underneath.

Yes. 320 or 302 is engine size. Model number is 195. This engine built before the engine cid and model the same. 302 is same engine, just has thin dry sleeves in it reducing bore.
