Tractor width

I have been watching tractors in our farm stock classes and it seems that the tractors with the rear wheels out wide out pull the narrow ones, same weight and model tractors, is there any reason for this or just happens that way. I know the longer a wrench is the more force you get with the same amount of pull, could the wheels being farther out from center when sled pulls down on drawbar put more force on the wheels, it seems it would be the same at any width, weight is weight wide or narrow but I don?t know much either so what you think?

wide helps straddle others tracks, but will turn you sideways much easier also,Most are normal width for hauling.easier on the axles also, bearings and everything. Happy New yr.

At times: wide tread width don't pile loose dirt in front of skid pan as much. Some dirt goes to outside of pan. Depends on pan width .

I disagree, narrow will keep both wheels spinning better. And also won't jerk to the side as bad. Opinions are kinda like bellybuttons, everybody has one.

I have a farm stock AC WD45 set narrow and a Farmall 450 set fairly wide and don't notice any real difference in one over the other.
