I have a 1951 oliver 88,m&w oversize kit, 1650 manifold, murphy's roller rockers, bigger carb. Dyo's 75-80 hp.Running 20% over some pull's allowed more. Found a 88 with 195gk dyo's 115@1900 rpm's. would this motor be much of an upgrade as copared ro what I have now?Looking to grind my cam,add murphy's intake,do head work, up size valves. Or should I switch to the 195, and work on it later. Would the 195 be a better investment. Looking to run 20% an higher rpms. possibly 2600 rpm's. I guess what I am asking Would the 195 be a better motor? Thanks for any input.

195 is an improvement both over what you have as well as what can be done to them. Just be aware that the 195 does not have the parts availability of some of the other engines. May have to improvise or custom fabricate some components. May be what you will do anyway. I know you can go in excess of 500ci on a 195.

Thanks guy's. Can alway's count on both of you for good info. I think the 195 will be the way to go. I know a gentleman that is strictly an oliver guy, and can make anything in his shop.
