John Deere A valves adjustment (hot or cold)

When setting the valves on a john deere a should you set them hot or cold? Some of the manuals say hot and some say cold. What is also the best setting for pulling. Thanks.

if its used just for pulling i set them at 16 cold dont really run long enough to get hot like if it was working

I have always set mine cold. Not saying that is best but have had no problems. I run the roller rockers and set them 20/20.
