Not really a pulling question but just thought you guys would know. Has anyone put a Perkins 540 into a 4000? Just wondered how difficult it would be to mate the engine/clutch to the Ford gearbox. Would it be best to use the original Ford clutch?
Thnaks

I know next to nothing about a 4000 Ford but if they don't need the pto imput shaft. I would turn out a steel flywheel and use a slipper clutch from a dragster. It should last all season for you. I would think you would need it to build boost off the line. Why use a tractor at all if the rules allow it. Just find a axle from a loader with outboard planetaries a truck trans, use the 4000 sheetmetal it will be light and a winner. Just a thought Vic
