I have seen many pictures of custom wide front ends on International "M" based tractors.

I have been wanting to make one but what hubs and spindels , tie rods etc etc are people useing to put five lug wheels on.

Any pictures would also help . This is just a pulling tractor so a factory wide front is not wanted .

Light weight is the name of the game here.

Ive seen some guys running the front axles off running gears lately. Seems if you found the right one and cut it to your liking it would give you your bolt pattern and be fairly light. Just sounds like a cheap alternative if your handy with a torch & welder.

I am pretty sure he means running gear, like what is under a farm wagon or gravity bed.

My widefront is built for an A Farmall Axel. We cut the hubs off and used some spindles and hubs from a trailer axle which can be picked up at tractor supply. For the steering we used a manual rack and pinion from a pinto or mustang two and made the tie rod ends. As far as mounting goes, I mounted the axle solid. Hope this helps.

I built one from a sprint car, plus you get knock-off wheel"s. They always have a bent one. It is so light you can lift the axle and wheels with one hand. I braced it with used oil-field pump barrel. It is as good a pipe as they make, and is free.or almost.

I've seen box tubing used for the tubes but just one tube and it was only 3 foot long. don't know what they used for the spindles but I'll look at the next pull . 4-17-10
