From TSC, is this MAJIC paint dry with high gloss? Does it need clear coat and/or hardner? According to info on TSC website, a 24 hour before recoat and only use the MAJIC reducer. Just read 14 day cure before MAJIC clear and don't use hardner in the clear. Anyone use this paint process.

The Majic paint has a dreadful reputation. It's suppose to fade worse than some other alkyd paints. Anyway it's just an oil based enamel. You can thin it with mineral spirits however if you are spraying it naphtha would be better. Naphtha is a faster drying solvent. You don't have to clear coat a single stage paint. You also don't have to use hardener in the enamel but it would make the paint dry glossier and make it a harder finish. Using the Majic clear coat may ruin the paint job. It is a lacquer clear coat like they used to use on cars decades ago and the solvents in it are so strong it may make the enamel wrinkle up like you put paint stripper on it.

Personally I would recommend the Rustoleum Farm & Implement paint. It's the same type of paint but is more colorfast. I painted a Kubota tractor in 2009 and it's just now starting to fade. The color red is the most prone to fade in paint and orange paint has red in it.

Thanks for that information. I have used a lot of Rustoleum spray can paints and have had good luck with them. I have never tried the Rustoleum Farm & Implement paint.

Ive used it on the Farmall super c . This about 8 year old , it looked great , got a lot of good comments , but this is a field tractor , it got the
worst treatment ,I had a original fuel cap and the gas spilling onto the tank ,caused issues with paint .

You decide.
I think you can do better with paint ,such as Tallmans Ag specialty sold here on yesterdays .

Magic is WWII era technology, here is one that the local FFA did with Alkyd enamel for my friend 15 years ago. You can see that it held up well under the decals.

If you go with the magic just don't waste your time with any prep work. Just wash it off and spray.
