I finally got around to finishing the headlights for my 58 861D, these I purchased on eBay for cheap.
Reason for the price was the condition they were in ( knew this going in), they had been sitting on the ground half buried.
I ran them through my blasting cabinet and lots of pin holes showed up around the teardrop area's, clear system 3 epoxy and 6oz fiberglass cloth on the inside took care of that with very minor filling on the outside.
Rustoleum rusty metal primer then surfacing primer followed with cnh enamel / and hardener.
Last was the van sickel clear coat ( rattle can version) , I sprayed their other clear ( acrylic lacquer clear coat) on all the rest of the tin.
I was very impressed with the acrylic enamel version also the quality of the rattle can nozzle and spray pattern!
Only reason for trying the rattle can clear was I only had a couple of small things to coat and was out of the other clear, both are available in quarts and gallons as well.
When I repaint my 49 8n the correct colors I will use all Van Sickle products I highly recommend them...
