I need help with "Ford Tractor Red" which at one time I believe was/is Vermillion. In 2012 I had paint mixed for me , a single stage urethane, one qt was Shop Line and the other qt was Value Pro, they matched identically. The paint code is DT3272.

The problem is that the supplier I used tell me they can t mix the paint because that code is not in their system, so they can t formulate another quart for me. Both the Shop Line and Value Pro have Ford Tracto Red and the same DT 3272 code on the cans, although I think it is actually a Chrysler colour.

Does anyone know where I could get a current Shop Line Code, so I can match up the paint. I am 70% through the restoration of my 1958 641 Workmaster. I m at a loss as to why the supplier can t figure this out. I have a friend who said he could use their camera on a panel if I bring him a panel. The camera will give a matching code apparently.

ould be Ford Tractor Red ACE039 911721

I used to have to match paint colors on occasion. Yeah, just as I remember it, what a mess. I tried to see what I could do with the information you gave and may have stumbled on an answer. Or not. There is a Chrysler/Dodge : DT3272 which is also PPG/Ditzler : 70075

The mobile app is https://us.ppgrefinish.com/PPG-Refinish/Color-Tools/Color-Online.aspx#colorMobile

So from here:

On the color chart there is a Ford Tractor Red ACE039 911721

Unless this is the answer:

Wow, thanks for the help, yes you are correct. I have the Chrysler/Dodge DT3272. 70075, on the can that they mixed. Beats me why they couldn t call their tech rep at their supplier.

I ll follow up with the ACE039 911721. and the Motorcraft service part number. Hopefully one of those will scan out on the Body Shop's camera and that would confirm it. Don t have much faith in my paint supplier after he he gave up after ten minutes.

Really appreciate your footwork on this

.

I don't know about any "Ford tractor red". XX1s including your 601 were painted "orange red" at the factory. I took the battery box to the local automotive paint jobber and got it digitally duplicated.

The earlier ones were painted vermilion.

Yes you are absolutely correct, the original colour was the "orange red", it was under the red paint when I started to strip the paint off. The previous owner painted over the original paint.

I didn t like the orange tint, so went to the older "Vermillion" which may have been an 8N colour, the Vermillion turned out to be the Chrysler/Dodge code that I used and am having trouble with my local supplier to re produce.

I am going to follow up on the codes suggested in the previous reply, and see how they match with the digital image from the collision shop.

Thank you so much for your reply, really appreciate the guidance this forum provides.

Dave, it turns out that the colour match is ACE043 911725. It rates a score of 3, 1 to 20, 1 being an exact match. This comes from PPG tech support. I found a reasonably close supplier that will mix it in Omni.

I have 1/2 a qt left of the original, which I ll use for touch ups on the cast and engine, and use the new paint only on the sheet metal.

Thanks for the help and putting me on the right track. I did have it scanned, turned out to be Chev 3056. Going with ACE043
