wax and grease wipe down

I have used ospho on all of my cleaned up tractor parts. It is time to prime. Wiping down all the parts with grease and wax remover prior to priming is the proper thing to do, correct???? Just making sure. Don't want to mess something up now, it is too much work to get to this point. gobble

Sounds like you've gone the course. No oil or silicone allowed! Maybe wipe down once more with Prep-Sol with ultra-clean rags, let dry and go to primer. You'll be good to go.

Yes, I would recommend a wax and grease remover. Frequently change rags and it will remove more contamination than anything you can use. Once upon a time car waxes contained silicone which can make your life miserable when putting on the new finish. It's called fisheye. It can make the new finish bead up like water on a freshly waxed car. The wax and grease remover is a good method of removing the majority of the silicone. It should be done first before sanding.

If you do experience fisheye stop where you are and get a fisheye additive compatible with your paint. Strangely enough the fix is adding silicone to your paint. It's something that should be avoided but use it if you have to. Just dispose of any rags or sandpaper you use in the finishing process as it will spread the silicone to something else.

After Ospho you need to rinse aggressively with water and brush. If you are worried about flash rust wipe it down with alcohol after the water rinse. Then go with the final wipe down.
