Restoring 9n fenders

So im working on restoring my 9n after fully stripping everything down to the castings blasing them, then, reassembling all back to factory spec im ready to assemble and pajnt the chassis this weekend.

Now im turing my sights to sheetmetal.

Those fenders have the skin, riveted bracket, and the rolled edge that goes over the 1/4 -5/16 rod that forms the edge.

I plan to knock the rivits out turn new rivits blast and etch the sheatmwtal and bracket then epoxy prime and re aseemble after hamer dolly and shrinking any dents.

How have you guys gone about cleaning the rust out from the inside of the rolled edge and coating it so that it wont rust out in the future.

What im thinking about is a phosporic acid soak then a nurtalzing soak then a soak in eastwoods internal frame coating (like that stuff cus its so so thin almist like water but hard has nails) then sand the exess runs from all visable areas before priming.

Whats your thoughts any tricks or tips from any one whose done this?

Your plan sounds good, and given that the alternative of cutting off ,and replacing the edge is just not worth the effort. Please post back on your progress.

If it were me I would clean out as much as you can get to with the epoxy primer and caulk the seams. They make caulk for autobody seams which is paintable. I would prime it first and then use the caulk.

I would use the phosphoric acid. I did and it has held up very well. Make multiple applications, flushing it out in between to get freed-up rust particles out allowing the acid to work in further. There is no need to neutralize, just rinse. I used on my rusty antique car too. I used a syringe to get it in between edges of parts that were spot welded together.
