Painting diesel fuel tank

Good evening,

I took the fuel tank off my tractor and had a local radiator shop hot tank it. Its now stripped to bare metal. I just want to paint it black, nothing fancy.

My concerns:

1. Fuel resistant paint
2. Not too much $$$
3. Easy touch up

Considering it will be covered by sheet metal anyway, the finish doesnt need to be perfect. Im more concerned about a hard finish that what it looks like.

Normally I would just get some black rustoleum and brush it on and let it flow out and have a nice thick coat but it takes absolutely forever to dry. Have heard good things about POR15 but they want something like 50 bucks for a quart! I can spray or brush, no aerosol.

Any ideas?

thanks,

Drew

if you pick up some valspar hardener and add it to the rustoleum paint it will speed the drying time and the paint will be more resistant to
fuel degradation . brush it on, dont spray it.

Glennster, you're awesome man! Much appreciated.

I need to fix the front mount on the tank this weekend and Ill pick up some hardener.

Thanks!

Drew

BTW would you thin the rusto even when brushing?

Is there any difference between the regular Rustoleum cans at Lowes/HD/etc and the farm and implement version sold at TSC those places?

thanks,

Drew
