Valspar 4432-01 IH Red

Good afternoon,
I started painting my 1959 IH 560D Standard with Valspar 4432-01 IH Red. I painted the rear wheel hubs and the seat with it and really like the deep IH red. I've still got 1 1/2 quarts remaining and ready to paint the rest of the parts and the tractor. I'm afraid 1/ 1/2 quarts will not cover with two coats. Evidently Valspar stopped selling it and I've looked all over the country and can not find any left of the shelf. Can anyone refer me to another brand that will have a color match to this 4432-01? Thank you

I don't know if the color is exactly the same but the Rustoleum farm and implement paint is really good. Anyway I would recommend you put it over the top of the Valspar paint. The Valspar brand paint is really bad to fade.

i can think of two options. go to a commercial paint store like dulux or sherwin williams and have them do a custom mix. you may either need to bring them a test panel to scan or bring the can of paint. they will let you know what you need to do. the other option is to go to a body shop paint supplier and have them mix it in either acrylic enamel or acrylic urethane. both will need hardener and you will need appropriate safety gear.

That Valspar is implement enamel. If you have put any amount of time and effort into your prep job you owe it to yourself to use real paint.

Here is my friend's H that the local FFA repainted for my friend around 15 years ago. You can see that under the decals it has held up pretty well.

Thank you for your reply. I actually got some other recommendations on the Rust-Oleum IH Red as well. I purchased some last night and the color is identical to the Valspar 4432-01. I mixed it at 4:1:1/4 (paint, thinner, hardner) and it sprayed out ok. I thought about going 4:2:1/4. I may try that on a batch to see if it lays down any better.

Spraying an oil based enamel it should be thinned as little as you can. It's real easy to over thin it and it takes longer to dry and screws up the sheen.

Ok, Thank you for the advice. I haven't been back down to the shop to see how the first coat set up. I'll be able to spray second coat tonight so I'm excited to see how it goes when I get back to it.

Attached is a short video of the Rust-Oleum IH Red paint, Majic hardener added then thinned by 1 part. Sorry, lighting is not so good.

Just keep it indoors and the paint will hold up OK.

Your Friend should have had a long serious talk with the FFA director about where the decals actually
belonged. The H decal does NOT go on the grill, it goes on the front of the ridge down the side of the
hood, under the ridge, and Guy Fay's Letter Series RESTORATION GUIDE book had a dimension to hold
between the arced ridge and the decal, Buy the book and look it up. And the FARMALL decal is about six
inches too far back. If I could look at it in person I could probably find more things wrong.
I'm not sure why these younger people think the model decal goes on the grill. Have't they ever seen
an H or M? I'd have made somebody buy new decals and sand those off and prep and repaint those areas and
put the decals where they belong!

Dr. Evil, Ha Ha, you are funny!!

Just thought I'd add a couple pics for the finished project using Rustoleum IH Red paint. 4:2:1/4 (paint, acetone, hardner)
