DeVilbiss ASP 500 Automotive Sprayer gun - needing an op

I purchased a brand new DeVilbiss ASP500 automotive spray gun approximately around 2003 or after. It is the stainless steel that has the tank on the bottom and the gun clamps to it on top. I used it 3 or 4 times and it worked great. I am in need of an operator's manual for it; I unable to locate the one that came with it. I've checked numerous places online and cannot locate a website I can obtain a manual. Is DeVillbiss still in busines? Have they been purchased by another entity? Where can I locate a manual for this product? Is there a website that instructs general setup/operation of spray guns like this one? Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.

Yep they're still around, huge company in the spraying tools business. That gun isn't currently offered but you may be able to get a manual directly from Devilbiss. Here is there web site for the auto side of the business:

You might contact DeVilbiss. You probably won't find one online. Spray guns are so simple I think everyone throws the manuals away. Here is a parts diagram. https://www.partswarehouse.com/DeVilbiss-ASP500-Type-1-Spray-Gun-s/532014.htm

Those Devilbiss spray guns are pretty reliable. My guess is take it apart and give it a good cleaning, despite light use, and assemble it carefully. Replace all minor seals and adjust the packing nut on the siphon plunger just enough to allow the plunger to cycle quickly. Many times the plunger packing is dried out from solvents and/or infrequent use and will not seal properly causing erratic performance. Inspect the spray cap and make sure every passage is squeaky clean and clear.
