When to prime after Phosphoric acid

The Ospho literature said to let it sit overnight, but it also said wait at least 24 hours. I treated the metal at 4 today, but I want to get some paint on it and be somewhere else by 5 tomorrow. Can I cheat the time line? It was 80 today and will be tomorrow also.

It's just the drying time. When making instructions they have to average out working conditions. In summer especially if it's windy or you have the metal sitting in the sun the drying time could be a lot less. In the sun with a warm breeze fifteen minutes would be enough. If you are certain it's dry shoot it. If it were cool or cold weather and damp then 24 hours might not be enough.

MetalPrep wipe on wash off with water. Dry with blow gun and apply primer surfacer or primer. That was what we were taught at Autobody Repair College. Zero wait time. Thirty years later I found the product and am using it on my TO30 restoration. Etch followed up with DTM.

I know this is a little old, but I don't much about painting but have to go with the seat of my pants since I've not found knowledgable answers. I've been using Ospho for quite some time. I've Osphoed everything on my NAA after dismantling and bare complete rebuild engine. I've figured moisture is not my friend and plenty of it when temp inversion. On garden tools and this tractor, I've just used a small paint brush on all metal and by the time I get to the end point, take clean rags and wipe it off. Whether right or not I need to protect from rust. I suspect that whatever time it takes and outside Temp. will show you when it's dry enough to cover with paint. Hope helps.
