Not likely. Lacquer wouldn't adhere as well even if it didn't lift the enamel. Assuming the paint is old you could put a urethane clear coat over enamel. The paint would need to be scuff sanded and cleaned first.

et the same system as your paint[/b] or make a call, so you can be sure of the compatibility. Modern clearcoats are available as water(ammonia) and oil based products so you want to get some help from a pro if you don't know to use.
