I have an ertl 3588 diecast tractor. I plan to restore it back to
original condition as its pretty rough. What paint do you guys
recommend to do this? (I also posted this in another section, but
wondered if this would be better)

You could use a lot of different kinds of paint for that. It wouldn't be sitting in the direct sun all the time. You could even use rattle can paint. I would sandblast it down to bare metal and prime it before painting it. Since it appears to be three different colors I would paint the red first and then allow it to thoroughly dry. Then mask it off and paint the black or white and allow that to thoroughly dry. Then do the last color. When you mask off to paint lines don't spray a wet coat or it will run under the tape and mess it up. Spray light coats where it doesn't begin to cover on the first coat and allow it to dry a few minutes and do it again and again until you have it covered. Where it has lettering because of the small side I would probably get a picture and print it on photo paper and glue it onto the tractor. you could use photoshop or paint to size the lettering to fit the tractor.

I've been restoring farm toys for over 30 years. Spray paint is what I use. The 3588 comes a part so you paint the red and black parts before you assemble it.
