After a lot of GREAT input from the Ford board about the color gray I am going to paint my weights, (Don't know why I started the conversation there and not here) It looks like my best match for my 961 is the Gloss Light Ford Gray, 1964-1999. The Vansickle brand looks like what I need. Questions are, I already bought these quarts of Rustoleum Ford grey primer and paint I can't return. Can I use this primer or will it not cover being so dark? Is there any online places you recommend for getting the Vansickle? I assume I need the catalyst/hardener as well. Going to be doing all 24 pie weights, mounting plates and then a weight box and those 6 weights. Do you think 1 gallon should be enough with a couple coats? Going to be using a HVLP sprayer. Thanks!

Tom, I'm not sure on the amount you'd need but with a hvlp sprayer you won't use much paint.
I used rustoleum primer surfacer and it must be thinned with ether acetone or regular automotive reducer, I used both and both worked fine.
Test a tiny amount in a cup of both paints you have to see which reducer will work , I used vansickel hardener and old55 reducer both available at fleetfarm.
On the center disc's I did both of them both sides and used 8 ounces of paint which is putting it on pretty heavy, I've never used a hvlp sprayer before but have great help from a friend who uses them.

What paint did you use for the wheel centers. And which red
paint? They both look very nice.
Thanks
Nick

Thanks Nick , CNH # 956 & 957 see pic below .
Used vansickel hardener and old 55 reducer in both their available at fleetfarm ( it was handy).
The years used printed on the labels are incorrect but no issues there...
The medium gray is interesting paint the way different lighting conditions seem to give it different tints or hues but shows nicely outside in the sunlight
