Majic gray sandable primer

Bought this primer several years ago on sale at tics . It sat in unheated shed , used quarter of gallon.
Wanted to use it on the Fordson tank to help smooth out some of the pitts . Cut it 8 to one ,ran it thru the pppg filter , it plug filter up in short order .
I m wonder if it shot . Seems to be oil on surface ,
Advice should I get new can and use this Old stuff on rusted disks ,cult packers
I’m no painter j, no experience , but the Fordson tank is important work to me .
 
It's an alkyd primer and the oil goes bad. You can fix it by straining it however I would add some linseed oil to the primer to replace what has gone bad. Pretty messy job, I would just buy a new can especially since you probably don't have linseed oil. In desperation I've strained paint through screen wire before running it through a paint strainer.
