Been trying to bit of bondo work with little success. Doesn't go on smooth and is porous. Sand off more. than I apply I sit old stock bondo or wrong brand? It is 3M Bondo.

try evercoat rage extreme. good lightweight filler, easy sanding almost pinhole free. also, use a folding motion when mixing, not stirring as that adds air bubbles to the filler . here is a link to rage extreme

It might be old and dried out- assuming that you did stir it. If that is the case, I'd ask for a refund. I use Evercoat, but 3M is a major player in the auto body industry. I can't believe they would have a product that is THAT bad.

Not bodyman. As you spread it kinda like chalk not like butter. Everytime you sand it has holes so fill again and more holes. Can
new last year but probably old stock.

molinegb, once you are done with your filler you could spray a coat of filler on to cover the little holes. You just need to be sure that your spray gun has a large enough nozzle.

If the filler went on dry, adhesion may be an issue. I would suggest removing the filler and starting over. There are products such as Dolphin Glaze and Icing, which are specifically made to fill pin holes. I wouldn't recommend spraying anything over a surface like that, for fear of bridging.

I agree with using a lightweight filler such as the Evercoat suggested and folding vs stirring for mixing the hardener. Do not overwork the filler when applying. Once the material begins to set, leave it alone. If you have pinholes and fill them, chances are they will eventually bleed through or shrink back. I would stay away from glazes to fill. Sand them out and reapply filler to correct. Do not over sand. Use a coarser grit initially, then sand the grit marks down with finer as you work toward your goal surface. Use flexible sanding blocks. The lightweight polyester fillers these days sand very easily. Especially compared to the fillers of "yesterday's tractors".
