Looking for single stage automotive paint for sheet metal. Tractor iron and rest is painted with Case 2150. What paint code brand is a match?
 
Hmmm, never seen a bright red Case, well, I take that back Case did paint their tractors 2150 red in 1985 & '86 until ALL the machine tools were moved from Farmall in Rock Island to Racine. You wouldn't mean IH or Case IH 2150 Red? It's been the official red of IH since about 1960.
 


dgoodman, it never occurred to me that you were asking about anything other than CaseIH, LOL.
 
You may be over thinking it. If you have some of the Case 2150 paint to make a sample or a small part painted with it an automotive paint store can computer match it just like a house paint store can match house paint.
 
I did that twice to a large auto paint supplier and it was not as red. I've seen paint codes on here before DuPont and others.
 
The problem is the Case paint isn't an automotive paint so there is nothing to cross reference. The only way they can come up with a paint code of what the tractor is suppose to have is from the year, make and model of the tractor. There are charts on the net that you can get the code of what the tractor is suppose to have but there is no way of knowing if the case paint is a matching color.

If the paint supplier is not making the paint red enough then their machine isn't calibrated right. It should fall under warranty to adjust the paint or do it over if it doesn't match the sample. Red is a primary color so it sounds like they are adding too much of another pigment which is diluting it.
 
I?ve used it on castings of my Fordson ,in fact with a cheap Home Depot brush, and it came out ,the best brush job I?ve done. The paint looks like you can?t see any brush lines, it flows and levels that good.
I have not sprayed it yet
