looking for a source for a good quality 2 part correct color grey paint for a late 8N and a 640 tractor? I painted these tractors 2 years ago with synthetic enamel and hardener and I am really disappointed by how badly they have fade and turned dull.

If you are looking for quality paint then use automotive paint. It's more expensive but you will have better results and it will last longer. There are many places online you can find the color code for the model tractor you have. Another option is if you have a small part you can remove from the tractor which the paint is good an automotive paint store can computer match a color just like a house paint store can.

I would agree with Stephen, if you want a real good quality then get an automotive, in leu of that, I would get paint from the dealer.

I use Martin Senour paint from NAPA. Single Stage Urethane Enamel. 55-2169159-A/3732 gray. I'm well pleased and sometimes I use a clear over the single stage urethane and that makes a high gloss. I also use a hardener in the single stage enamel.

I used ppg shopline and Omni acrylic enamel on the three tractors I have done. Actually just finished a golden jubilee Omni paint code 31657.

thanks for the code, rwaynew, I take it this is correct for a 641? or for a 640? I understand there is a very slight difference.

I got my info from external_link. link_disallowed They remanufacture Ford tractors. They told me that the grey paint color was the same 8N thru 800 series. I visited their site in northern Indiana. They also sell paint. Look on their website at their paint and the grey is the same. I painted my Ford 1958 801 and was well pleased with the color. I used their paint and also cross reference with NAPA. The single stage urethane is an automotive paint which is a step up from external_link. I was also pleased with external_link paint and is much cheaper.
