I bought a quart of xorust TTB-20 Gray Primer to primer tractor i'm working on. I did a test paint on a small part of tractor and it dried a real high gloss finish. Didn't look right so I called Wilco where I bough it and th didn't have a clue what it should look like. My experience of primer is it dries a dull finish.. anybody out there know for sure about this

When I was in the navy we had some epoxy primer that was glossy like that. We never had any problem with the paint sticking to it.

I seem to recall something like this happening once. Was a long time ago. But I definitely remember it.

I think it was a matter of stirring the primer well. The solids had settled on the bottom of the can. Don't quote me on this, it's been a long time.

Also, sometimes primer will dry glossy on the outside of the can where it's dripped when you're filling your paint cup. Seems that if it's thick, and wet enough, it levels (makes a gloss), and you get that problem.

I shoot the primer pretty dry, not nearly as much thinner as paint. Just wet enough to run easily thru the gun.

Doggone it!!! I wish I could remember whether I solved the problem, or just tossed the can. I'm sorry.
