Finishing options

I'm restoring my 1955 JD 70 gasburner and plan to ship the sheet metal to an automotive shop for dent removal and painting. I'm just not good enough with a spray gun to want to attempt it myself. I would like to hand-paint the cast iron: engine parts, radiator tanks etc. I'm very good with a brush. Can I custom tint an alkyd rust paint like Tremclad to a very close match with JD Classic Green, have the shop use the real thing (or, say, a Dupont Dulux), and have the finished tractor look good? Or am I crazy to be even considering hand-brushing?
Second question: is it best to wire-wheel the nuts and bolts, assemble the tractor, then hand-paint them? I know from past experience that assembling pre-painted fasteners usually wrecks the paint and requires touch-up anyways. Would pre-priming be smart or un-necessary? Thanks for your input! Paul

Yes you can hand brush as long as you use a soft brush and a paint that will flow a little once applied. Can't comment on matching this paint with that. The paint they use WILL weather differently than what you are going to use. In a year or two you may really notice a difference. Find out what they are going to use and then see if it can be applied with a brush and flow useing the correct reducers etc. If they are useing a catylized paint then do the same only do it in a manner that you can get it all covered before the paint sets up. Pre paint the bolts and touch up after.
