Long 610 transmissions

Does anyone know if a 2WD Long 610 8-speed transmission is interchangeable with 4wd Long 610DT 8-speed transmission? The have an 1982(?) 610 DT that needs serious trans help. Pricing out components Im up over $2600 so Im exploring a used trans and have found some 2wd transmissions. My research if part numbers and diagrams seems to suggest that it should fit.

That would be great! I'd really appreciate that. I'm thinking it's possible, but just trying to confirm it before I go and spend money on parts etc. Thank you!
 
From what I read and seen in the manual the transfer case mounts just behind the
transmission housing on the differential housing wether it is the side drive or
center drive type . In the transmission section it does not show any differences
between the 2wd drive and 4wd drive tractors . So I don't see why you couldn't
interchange the two . Hope this helps and if you need anything looked up let me
know
 

Really appreciate you confirming that! I was pretty sure that was the case but have had someone keep telling me (without saying why) that it won t work. Everything I saw matches what you said. Thanks again!

I've got a salvaged transmission on the way from Cross Creek that came out of a 2wd 610 without a loader. I pulled mine apart and priced parts for the repair and it was over $2k so I opted for the salvage route. Really appreciate the help!
