52-06 fuel tank cowl removal

I need to get the cover taken off my 52-06's fuel tank for repair. Is there a trick to it or is it just a PITA to do. I have the 4 feet loose, and the PTO lever slot. I figured it would show signs of coming up and out, but -moves only a little. Oh yeah, The fuse panel is unhooked.

I replaced the fuel tank on my 68 06 last fall. Should be the same process for yours, I think. It was a pain, no doubt. I removed the hood first, removing the pin from the hinge. Unscrewed the dash and pushed that up in back the steering wheel. Then there a four bolts that hold the top panel that is over the fuel tank to the lower panels on the sides. Remove those bolts and then pry up the top cover and should be able to remove that cover and the fuel tank. Of course there is the one bolt under the fuel tank with the rubber isolator. That is the best I can remember, I did not document process as hoping to never have to do again. The fuse panel does have to be disconnected from the top cover if I remember. I cannot remember touching the pto lever but maybe I did. Would just take a quick look at tractor to determine. Good Luck!

We eventually got it off and found that the water leak was due to rust in the twist in cap for the fuel gauge. It was certainly not a job to tackle if in a hurry!! Thanks for the reply.
