Hy there. I recently bought a this 5505 with a non working pto. It make some noise like a bad bearing off and on in the clutch area, and it seems to make a difference when the clutch pedal is depressed or released, but still pretty random. Anyone familiar with all the workings of the pto clutch. When I put the leaver on the left side in gear the pto turns, but I can stop it with a board. Ive been meaning to buy a clutch service manual but Im tempted to just sell it as is. Thanks in advanve

Can't help much, have seen worn out clutch disc do that, but that would not cause the noise. Like your handle. only ticket out of here, maybe soon.

I have a 4006. Years ago the pto would work off and on when engaged. I split it to find a metal coupler with the splines stripped out. I can't remember if I split it between the engine and trans or after the trans. I may have split it in both places now that I think about it before i found the issue. The coupler was on the other end of the outer shaft that connects to the clutch. I do remember that little coupler was expensive.

Thank you very much, now that you mention the trouble you had it really does sound like mine could be a stripping coupler as well.
