I have one that looks some like that. Mine is a White---Oliver 4-80-17---4 wheel drive 80 HP and digs to 17 ft. deep. Mine is a 6 cylinder diesel. Mine my be a little bigger, but not sure. I am in Michigan

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering what the SM an OM numbers are and where they could be purchased. Is there a TM online?
I find it strange that my machine, the 4-80, I assume, it doesn?t say that for the model it says model 280-92017 I wasn?t sure how that translates. Was there any similarities or transferable information or parts from the predecessor 1655?

Thanks Lenray, mine is also a 6 cylinder diesel. I don?t see any badging though, were they Cummins? Do you know if there are Service manuals, operators manuals, technical manuals available for purchase anywhere?

mine isthe WAKASHEW SP. I know I didn't spell it right, but you know what I mean.................

Post on the Oliver forum, you'll get a lot more traffic. It's an Oliver designed and cast engine, tooled and finished by Waukesha.

Thanks rrlund. Thanks to YT - I now know it is the 1973 4-80-17 with its predecessor the Oliver 1655 I understand it?s 4 - wheel drive 80-hp. With a 17? digging depth. I?ve located a parts manual but still looking for a service manual and or TM.
Thanks to everyone in this forum for all the help identifying the machine. I?ll move over to the Oliver forum with my questions.

Does the loader, tractor and hoe each have its own serial and model number? I have a 4-78-15. built in 1969 the same time the late 1650's were built. This has a Northbrook Ill manufacturing tag. The hoe on mine has a motor for the swing, not cylinders as the 17 uses.

That’s a good looking machine you have there.
Yes there is two tags on mine. Machine model is 280-92017
and the backhoe is model 4-80-17. It says built in Northfield
Illinois by the White construction division. I wasn’t able to turn
the engine over as wire harness has had a fire. I tried jumping
the starter but it just clicked. I took the starter out to bench
test. It works. The fly wheel looks great. I thought maybe I’d
try and put a pipe wrench on the end of the PTO and see if I
could roll the engine over. It hasn’t been started in 25 years
apparently.
