How to fix a gm lock radio

On a 03 malibu I thought I would share I fixed a swap radio lock by snipping purple wire. (Got lucky on first guess) . Sure beats paying gm $150 to reprogram. And beats complicated you tube videos that didn't work.

I mighta blurted out my break thru too quickly since I ran into a couple snags the next day but still getting it to work. Since it seems the radio clock stays on with the purple snip since B4 I think opening the door on proper vin shuts it off lol, my battery was low the next morning (however I think the battery is almost shot) and then I realized when I try starting car with low battery even tho it still starts it cuts off power to radio and then it needs purple wire reconnected to turn on radio (but ignition must be off or it locks) I had to drive car a few miles to charge battery and was able to shut off get radio on and start car and keep radio on so I think I just about got it figured out. I've also had the theft lite come on on instrument cluster and red lite flash on radio so it's trying to buck me but they went away. I also had a blessing I tried removing some fuses by door to turn off radio and reinserting and a combination of doing that in town at a store and battery went dead with lites on and gages went biserk and I had to get a jump start, but then the gas Gage wouldn't go up and car would only start for a second. After 10 min it finally went back to normal and started so I got out of a typical predicament for me again.

It's working. I extended the purple wires out so I touch them together B4 starting car. My latest incite is to have door closed. The things I hafta to do because of them dirty junk after market face plate removed crap radio ppl put in cars .
