Looking at an Avery R. I have no knowledge at all but it looks like a neat tractor. This one has sat and is stuck, exhaust was off and I?m sure engine is in rough shape. I searched a little and it looks like a Hercules 133. Would finding another one these engines be hard, did these engines come in many other things? Or is there a little bigger engine that could bolt up? May do a little pulling with it. Thanks. Any idea on weight? I?m sure it?s around 3000 or less, can they pull in a 2500 pound class?

The engine should be a Hercules 133. The Avery R later became the Minneapolis Moline BF. They are rated at about 27 PTO horsepower. That is a fairly common engine that was used in lots of things, including welders and boats.

I have the MM BF version, and it weighs right at 3000 pounds with wheel weights on it, and me sitting on it. Mine has the MM hydraulics and PTO. You could probably get it down to the 2750 pound class with a lighter driver.

Bill Williams is the go to guy for Avery knowledge and parts. He is in Baldwyn, MS. 662-728-3747
