I am currently redoing an Oliver 1655 that had a cracked bell housing. Once we got everything pulled apart we noticed the input splines on the input for the over/under, as well as the clutch had wear on them. I was curiuos if anyone else has seen anything like this or if anyone had a reccomendation on replacing the shaft or leaving well enough alone? I was planning on installing a new clutch and bearings already. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

check the wear on the sprockets for the double roller chain coupler. the one on the transmission input is bad to wear in the splines. Maibach Tractor has a deeper splined sprocket for there

We recently ran into issues with the over/under on a 1655, input shaft, clutches, clutch basket etc. were all shot. We had it rebuilt using parts from an 1855 over/under. required changing the clutch disc to match the input shaft. The 1655 parts are like hens' teeth to find and expensive. The large frame tractor parts are also expensive but should hold up better.
