Neighbor has a 1650 that is leaking hydraulic oil into the rear end. What would be the most likely cause?

I'm just trying to help out.

Thanks for any replies!

Watch Chris Losey, YouTube.
That Oliver Guy.

He just dealt with a 1550 here, before harvest.
Shows the details.

The hydraulic pump seal is the most likely. Is the fluid level lower after the tractor has been running? There's your problem.
You could be dealing with a pinhole that has developed in the pan between the hydraulic reservoir and rear end. The fluid then leaks down all the time and you'll see the fluid level difference no matter if the tractor is running or not.
Of course the gasket itself could've failed. Regardless, the hydraulic unit has to come off to fix anything and you're going to put a new gasket on anyway.
Hope it helps.

Don't try toget by just replacing the seal!
