Oliver 66 industrial

Looking at an Oliver 66 Industrial for sale on marketplace.Seriel tag seems to be correct for the tractor.Yellow paint is peeling on frame and rear end.Green under the yellow. Were some painted green before the yellow or something else going on.Says it is a 1950.No muffler under the hood either.Just wondering .

Is that the one in Shafer, MN? It looks like an original industrial to me because the serial number tag is labeled as such. Who knows about the paint? It stands to reason they were all painted green with the standards on the same line then pulled to be resprayed yellow when they needed an industrial. Also, it was obviously resprayed at some point as the serial tag does have overspray on it and the intake hose and rubber gearshift boots are painted. The frame and tinwork are most definitely different shades.

I have a list of standard and industrial serial numbers I can check later tonight and see how it corresponds. I do believe the first 3 digits for the industrials were 462 and the standards were 472. The C66E transmission code it has would've been correct for the standard/industrial.

Did the standard vs. industrials have a different shift pattern? I don't recall offhand but I recall they were geared differently? Am I wrong?

I'm not sure if all industrials had this or not but my 66 industrial has an extra set of mounting pads cast into the frame. 2 mounting pads per side.

Interesting. Is yours an old style 66 or Super 66?
he one I hade was a old 66.The higher gears are on the top.The standards are the same.Industrials must be with the high gears on the bottom.

Yeah I was reading about different speeds.

I was wondering if Kirk Norlin's is a Super because don't remember seeing a fleetline industrial 66 with four pads. I've only seen the two front pads on the 66, but Supers had four.

It is a fleetline 66 industrial. I also have a standard 66 & it only has 1 mounting pad on each side of the frame. I'm at work now, I'll look to see if I have any pictures of it on my phone.

My 66 industrial is like this one. This one is decaled as a super 66, but I doubt if it actually is a super. My serial number is 462057 C66E which puts it as a 1950 model. It's definitely not a super. I'll
try to get a picture of mine over the weekend. I know that these frames were very prone to breakage at the wishbone mounting point. Maybe frames were swapped??

Well that's interesting. In my literature I don't see any serial number notations regarding a Super 66 industrial which makes me think they didn't exist. Your serial is definitely an industrial 66 serial number so I'm going to guess it got a frame swap with a Super at some point.

id they build a super 66 standard? Can't find Info on any.

I don't believe either a standard or industrial Super 66 was built. I think the Super 55 filled that requirement.

am guessing that the frame with 4 mounting pads must have been an upgrade to the 66 frame.

I can't find any regular 66 that had a four pad frame unless it was upgraded with a Super 66 frame. Maybe John can come up with something.
