Hi. Does your starter have a solenoid or
the mechanical rod? That solenoid would
need replaced for 12 volts. I would figure
out how many wires are needed and make a
new wiring harness. Also check for wear on
distributor shaft bearings as most don't
get oiled as they should. Personally I
would keep the points until I was
satisfied with the conversion, starting
and charging, then go to electronics.
