Recently overhauled gas 550, all new main bearings, rings, head planed, etc. Included flushing radiator and new thermostat. Tried mowing, overheats after 15 min or so, not working motor excessively. Pulled thermostat, pan test, starts to open ~158, fully open 163 or so. When overheats, goes into red on gauge, and blows coolant out. Belt is new. Happens every time we try, ~ 5x so far, one time after gauge exceeded the midline in the work zone, parked in shade and let idle, kept climbing until into red and coolant release.
Overhaul was due to excessive oil consumption, not heat issue, never ran hot before.
Ideas? Have heard air bubble possible, how do you burp it? Or other causes?
Thanks for the help, the grass is getting ahead of me!!!
