50 series Flywheel

I took the flywheel off a Perkins engine that I bought about 35 years ago to take it in for refacing as I am about to redo the clutch on our
1850 feed tractor.

As I cleaned up the flywheel I noticed that the center alignment hole showed some wear marks from the end of the hydraulic/PTO drive
shaft. I am puzzled by the short length of the wear marks indicating about1/4 to 3/8 of an inch engagement with the flywheel? If the shaft is supposed to
link up to the flywheel wouldnt the splines pass right through centre hole and permit full engagement between the end of the drive shaft and
the flywheel hub?

I suppose the question I am asking is if this flywheel is worth refacing or is it now a boat anchor because of the wear on the centre? I hope
the pictures attached ok

This flywheel has come off a parts tractor I bought years ago in an estate sale. I dont know if the hydraulics and PTO were working when they pulled
the engine out. If the centre hole is supposed to have a distinct profile for turning the end of a shaft then it looks to me like its beyond
saving. If these are just wear marks from the end of the drive shaft sitting against the hub then its probably not a big deal. I will have
something to compare it to when I get my feed tractor apart but I was hoping to have a ready to go flywheel for when I change my clutch. I
try to keep a few spares around ready to go, things like a hydraulic pump, water pump, starter etc. I dont want to waste time and money
refacing a flywheel that should be made into a boat anchor. I just need to know if these worn spline marks on the flywheel hub are a big
deal?

The long PTO shaft was just front too far in the hub, or maybe had some other issue. There is a PTO that bolts to the smaller holes on that flywheel. No worries with the flywheel, it doesn't spline to the PTO shaft.

The guy I got the engine from must have put the drive hub in a box never to be seen again. I will take the flywheel in and get it polished up today. I know the one on my feed tractor is pretty rough and has lots of hard spots and cracks. I did a home buff last time I did the clutch but only got five or 6 years out of it.
