Cockshutt 540 Hydraulic Layout

I'm wondering if anyone here could help me with a hydraulic problem on our 540 (if anyone has a schematic, that would be even better). I picked up the tractor last fall and am just starting to look at it now. The previous owner put a loader on that he took off another 540. The 3 point hitch doesn't work. I've only had a quick look at it, but I think the previous owner has bungled something up by getting creative with his hydraulic routing.

The tractor doesn't not have the Cockshutt remote valve. Rather: the way it's plumbed is something like: The pressure line from the pump goes to a twin spool valve for the loader. This loader valve does not appear to have power beyond capability. The tank line from the loader valve is tee'd - one branch going to a port on the left side of the hydraulic reservoir housing, the other going somewhere centred under the seat. I only had a quick look in the dark so I don't know exactly where this second branch is heading to, but it seemed to be somewhere different than the return line to the pump (which also comes out under the seat, and goes straight to the pump with no tee or union).

I have a proper joystick loader valve with power-beyond capability that I'm planning to use on the loader. All I really need to know is what each port in the hydraulic housing under the seat goes to: The one on the left-side of the housing, and the one under the seat that's not the return line.

I'm guessing one of these is the pressure line for the three-point hitch, which will come from the PB port on my ne valve, and the other is a low pressure line to the tank. But I wouldn't mind someone confirming my suspicions.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks! That third page is pretty handy. I can't make out most of the text, but I
think I see what's going on.

The PO looks to have the tank side of my loader valve tee'd to both the pressure
line for the three point hitch (located centred beneath the seat next to the
filter housing), and also tee'd to the port that's meant for the remote cylinder
(if it was equipped with the genuine Cockshutt remote valve).

I'm thinking what I need to do is plumb the PB port from the new valve to the
pressure line in the filter-housing area, and plumb the tank port of the new
loader valve to the return line from the filter. Possibly I can plumb the tank
side of the loader valve to where he has it on the left side of the housing, but
that's assuming that port leads to the tank (which it might as I don't have the
OEM remote valve, but I'll have to do some investigating to make sure).

I'm guessing that the port on the left of the housing does indeed lead to the
tank/reservoir, and that's why the three-point hitch isn't working: The pressure
line to the hitch is bypassing to the tank. I guess I just need to make sure that
it's entering the tank below the fluid level if I'm going to use that as the tank
port from the loader valve.

If you're able, that would be excellent. I have the manual with the first two pictures you sent - but I don't
have that third schematic from Phil.

Thanks again!
