Customer Brought in a Oliver 550 diesel. Said it was making a bad noise in the clutch area. He shut it down and was afraid to start it again. Wanted me to tear it down. I did. New Clutch, Pressure plate and throw out bearing, nothing obvious. Bolted the starter back on and bumped it over, terrible noise. Drained oil, very low on oil, dropped pan, spun #4 rod bearing. He says he is not going to fix it. Tractor is not in great condition but definitely not junk. Nice factory roll bar and canopy, three point hitch, One set remotes. Tires are fair. He said it had good hydraulics and it has a nice radiator. There are none of these tractors in my area. Would anyone know what it might be worth in this condition? Thanks

It is difficult to put a price on the tractor without seeing it, but I would think $1000 would be about right.

Where are you located?

I'd probably agree. It might take a while to find somebody interested at any price though. I gave a thousand for a 57 Improved Super 55 gas. That one was in pieces, needed new pistons and sleeves (which didn't come with it). I've got a lot of money in it, but it's a nice little tractor now.

On that 550, I don't think I'd turn down anything that was scrap price or above. Like I said, finding somebody who wants to do the work on one, knowing the cost of parts and machining, it might not be an easy sell, unless Kent wants it to part out.

Randy, I would be interested in it depending on location. Getting it to Texas might cost more than the tractor cost. Thanks for the plug, Kent Gordon

I've never seen a roll bar on a 550 and if I knew it was a factory option I certainly don't remember. Please post photos of this tractor so we can see it.

Will post pictures when I get it back together. Waiting to see if the customer is going to haul it away in pieces or pay me to put
back together or sell it to me. I just needed an idea what to offer him.

Kent, It would be a long haul to Texas. Located in Southern West Virginia. If I don't sell it, I will fix it and donate it to my antique tractor club for a scraper tractor. I don't need it. I have 3 Cockshutts, 4 Olivers, 2 Fords, a Case IH and a Massey Harris. I just didn't want to see it go to the scrappers.

What I gave for it and what I can get out of it is 2 different things. I used to be a used car salesman and I won't divulge what I
paid for it. I will post pictures when I get time to put it back together. I have too many paying jobs in the shop right now to worry
about it.
