got water in rear end oil. drained, flushed. store inside. other than shifter rubber boot cap, where can water get in ? thanks

I think there were places for water to get through all there versions of the hydraulic tank Version one had electrical wires going through the tank. Series two had the side arms and water would follow the shaft into the tank, Series three had the levers on the top and the boots would crack allowing water into the tank. Once the water is in the tank it probably froze and cracked the centerplate or pushed through the seals. After that the water goes into the transmission and the differential. The water can also rundown the shift lever passed the rubber shift boot and into the tranny and rear end. Those are the most likely places to get water in the rear end.
Hope that helps.

Check the little rise in the deck near where your feet rest for hairline cracks. That is how water gets into my 88.

77s are much less likely to crack than 88s, but I have one that was cracked, condensation will put water into the rear end no mater how much you can seal it up. nothing you can do about it as the rear end will never get hot enough to evaporate it off. I drain off the rear ends at least once a year after the tractor has been sitting for awhile, always get a bit of water.
